The Clothes Make the Man (Crazy) Challenge Accepted: Kill la Kill

I often find myself thinking, 'Man, if my clothes would just give me superpowers, my pants wouldn't be sitting in the corner right now. So let's imagine it. (Superpowers, not me without pants.) There is a school in which you are provided uniforms based on your performance in your field of specialty, Tennis? Got ya covered. Gardening? Yup! Sewing? You bet! These uniforms come in varying ranks from one to three, and provide you powers that are themed around said specialty. The catch? If you suck at things you are a no star, and you get NOTHING. So try not to die.

Oh, and remember not to become a slave to fashion, kids.

My Uniform Spec? Repelling Women.

What...?

Seriously. Who rates this stuff?

Did you say Goku?
Of course, the place hinted at above exists. Honnōji Academy is a school in which goku uniforms are produced and worn by skilled club members (1 star) club presidents (2 star) and the elite 4 (3 star) and are granted when the wearer has demonstrated the skill to actually use them properly. Our protagonist, the wandering guitar case transfer student heads to the academy in search of her father's killer. When she arrives, she learns that it wont be so easy to get the answers she seeks.

The transfer student must make her way to the top of the food chain if she is ever to have any hope. The problem? She doesn't even have a goku uniform.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Honnōji Academy and the surrounding Honnō City sure do keep some strange people...

What an oddly shaped guitar.
Matoi Ryuko (Protagonist)

Likes: Mako, fighting, revenge

Dislikes: Skimpy clothing, peeping toms, being alone

Skills/Hobbies: Fighting

Misc:Wait till you see what's in her guitar case

Ryuko appears to be a standard "punkish" delinquent. She dresses in a manner that kind of screams "I can kick your ass" and well, she certainly could. She is quite fixated on finding out who her father's killer is, and is very passionate about her quest for revenge. Despite all this, Ryuko proves time and time again that she is a very good, very loyal friend, and despite the fact that she gets heated at times, values those friends more than anything in the world. Especially her best friend;

I would clone myself to eat more cheese too.
Mankanshoku Mako

Likes: Sleeping, mystery croquettes, cheese, Ryuko

Dislikes: Stealing, hurting people

Skills/Hobbies: Eating quickly then falling asleep. Inspirational speeches.

Misc: Mako takes bubbly to a new level, and is always uplifting and energetic. It just makes you wanna smile.

Are these even food?
Mako liked Ryuko from the first time they met. She immediately and energetically requested they sit next to each other when she learned they would be in the same class, and from there they became fast friends. She is always there with a smile and mystery croquettes to snap Ryuko out of her bad moods. She is also somehow both very intelligent, and yet very stupid at the same time. You think she is crazy? Wait till you meet her family.. What? Now? Okay, I guess. There is a first time for everything.

An appetite. For justice.
Mankanshoku Family; (Quite the appetite)

Barazo (Father)
Sukuyo (Mother)
Mataro (Brother)
Guts (Dog)

Likes: Mystery croquettes, perving out on Ryuko, having gratuitous amounts of energy, other foods

Dislikes: Any harm coming to the family

Skills/Hobbies: Doctoring? (Barazo), Cooking? (Sukuyo),  Theft? (Mataro)

Misc: I love this family.

The Mankanshoku family, What can I say? The family took in Ryuko immediately when finding out that she had no place to stay, and immediately she became part of the family. This is one bizarre group. All of them are very energetic, much like Mako, and all of them are incredible at supporting Ryuko though all of her ordeals, usually with croquettes and love (and peeping). also GUTS! GUTS! They also seem to be 100% oblivious to any danger around them most of the time.

Shh.. The performance is about to start..

wonder who this is? Shes cute, right? Guess you gotta watch and find out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plot: 5/10

Alright fan boys/girls, calm down. ;) I didn't think the plot was "bad" per say, however, it was a little silly, (second half, tune in for that plot twist). Some may argue that that is the point, however, I didn't really feel as though there was much to the plot. Sure, there were twists, and there were turns, and even some awesome moments, HOWEVER, I didn't really care too much about the why this time, I just sat back and enjoyed the action-y goodness, and I am sure a lot of you will do the same.

Music: 8/10

At first, the music didn't matter to me all that much, after a little while I started to note that it was pretty decent in setting the mood, however I (personally) didn't find any of it to really be "special" but then something happened. The anime weaponized music. Any anime that weaponizes music gets a huge score boost, because that is awesome. I love bards/performers! It was a creative idea, and it worked out really well.

Voices (Subbed): 8/10

I have said this before and I will say it again. ENERGY!! When the actors get into the role, and hold nothing back, you get a brilliant performance. Almost every character was highly emotional, and the cast really felt like they were passionate about their respective characters.

Voices (Dubbed): ? /10

There is a dub that is currently in progress, however I did not check it out because it is not finished.

Art: 6/10

Well, again, here. The art isn't particularly BAD, its just, well, not great. There are very few (in fact, only three for me) characters that are even moderately attractive (hey, this matters) and a lot of times, generics are used (several students looking exactly the same, etc) I get that this is most likely intentional and I am not saying that it is a bad choice, however it feels a little lazy. That being said, the uniform designs? Very creative, very cool.

Characters: 9/10

Characters in this anime all come together like a delicious stew. All of them mesh well with each other, and they are all unique, energetic, and have brilliant personalities. The voice choices are again, very good, the art, while not my particular taste, adds an intensity to the characters that is just amazing.

Overall: 7.2/10

This anime was pretty good. If you raise your eyebrows at the idea of magic uniforms and clothing being the center of a plot line,  shut your face and watch it anyways. I feel like it is really worth your time, and even though I wasn't this anime's number one fan, I thought it was pretty good, and I kept watching episode after violent episode just to savor them action scenes. Be warned that this anime travels at breakneck speed. (Wait till you see the recap episode!)

Tea Quality: 9/10

It's pretty good, maybe a little bitter.

Delays? You mean conspiracies. Welcome to the N.H.K.!

*Looks left* .... *Looks right* ... Listen, I know it has been a long time, but it can be pretty hard to write when they are watching you all the time, you know? It is all this big conspiracy, you can't even imagine the scope. They don't want you to know, and all this time, I have been silenced. BUT NO MORE!! You, loyal fans, have the right to know the truth. What truth, you ask? We are all under the blanket of a worldwide conspiracy perpetrated by the evil N.H.K. organization. The goal? to bring us down, and keep us there, keep us locked away in our homes so that we don't find out the truth. They are everywhere. Watching.

Everyone sees you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the N.H.K.

Episodes: 24

Age Rating: Teen 17+ ( Mild Nudity, Adult Language, Adult Themes)

Tags: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life, Psychological

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turns out that even in a world where anything can happen, from witches, to dragons, to magical girls who come from other dimensions to uh...be nude and stuff...There are STILL crazies. Are you excited? Me too! In this conspiracy, we get to learn all about what life is like as a hikikomori. What is a hikikomori? Well, think of them as otaku like us, but..without an unhealthy addiction to anime.

Apparently living a life like that is pretty difficult, as it requires an allowance from your parents, or someone to take care of you, unless you wanna starve to death in your apartment and die. That is an option too.  Apparently though, the sort of person that might become a hikikomori is more than likely a bit...off, so they are likely to start coming up with crazy theories about themselves and the world around them, and well, when you are secluded for four years? Things go from a little crazy......To a little more than insane.

I know, I know.. I see them surrounding you as well.

Eventually, the only option is to try and escape such a lifestyle, but how? How can one person overthrow a worldwide organization that exists only for the purpose of keeping you locked away from the world as a miserable, pathetic, loser of a hikikomori? What? Intense therapy and counseling? That is just what the N.H.K wants. Trust me, they run those places too.

Just in it for the NEW AND IMPROVED review? Click Here!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite all of this bad news, I do not want you to worry. We aren't in this alone. No, we have each other. We also have:

Yup, Welcome to my awesome room. Sit. Somewhere.
Satou Tatsuhiro: (Protagonist)

Likes: Drinking, smoking, eating, hentai

Dislikes: People, going outside, the NHK

Skills/Hobbies: thinking up conspiracies, being a genuinely creepy guy. Being a pro status hikikomori

Misc: for his age, Tatsuhiro is quite childish. He has a tendency to lie, but is a terrible liar. He also has a fear of accepting his feelings, due to a fear of being hurt. Unlike in a lot of anime, few people refer to him using his first name. so from here we shall refer to him as Satou.

Yeah, pretty much this.
Satou wasn't always the way he is now, when he was in high school, he was a normal boy. He showed up to class daily, and in his second year, he was invited to join the literature club, despite not being one to enjoy reading. As a result he made friends with the club leader, Hitomi. Rather than read, they would spend their time in the club playing cards, and on a frequent basis, Hitomi would talk about various worldwide conspiracies, which is likely the basis for Satou's current condition. Now in his early twenties, Satou lives a life as a hikikomori, blaming all of his problems on those very same conspiracies, and so terrified of the outside that the only time he will leave is apartment is on Sunday nights, to go to a park nearby his home. Just as he is brooding over the conspiracy behind his condition, for the first time in ages, Satou hears a fateful knock on his door. Is this a conspiracy too? Who could it be?

Shhhh.....
Nakahara Misaki: (Leading lady)

Likes: psychology, manga, stuffed animals, cats, dogs.

Dislikes: tardiness

Skills: Pro friend, being secretive, sass, very observant, good at catching liars, cooking (tuna)

Misc: Meow.

Misaki is a kindhearted young girl who from a very young age did not have it all that great. Cast into a world where bad things just tend to happen around her all the time, she tends to blame herself for all of the misfortune felt by those around her. She feels like she is a burden on everyone, and as a result grows to hate herself. Despite this, Misaki is very skilled at keeping those feelings locked away, and is a very sweet girl to everyone around her.

In her quest to feel like she is a useful person, Misaki undertakes a project with the primary goal being to help someone even lower than herself. She quickly takes notice of a certain hikikomori, deciding he is the perfect candidate for the job, and decides that at all costs, she will be useful to him.

Satou denies being a hikikomori, instead claiming to be a creator. A creator of what, you ask? Gal games (Hentai). Unfortunately, Satou is very much not a creator... of anything, So he must seek some help. Who would help a worthless hikikomori??

You know, pururin pururin pururin. So cool.
Yamazaki Kaoru (All around weird dude)

Likes: Otaku culture, game design, drinking,  Pururin (an anime within the..anime)  Hentai, Lolicon (Animated little girls. Primarily for their "cute" factor.)

Dislikes: Laziness, being told what to do, girls (on and off) fireworks, stupidity.

Pururin.
Skills: Game design, drawing/painting

Misc: Referred to as Yamazaki in the show, so again, we will go with that. Grr grr grr.

Yamazaki is a guy who holds a lot of grudges in his heart. He is very bitter towards women, due to
being hurt in the past. Most of the time, he is very friendly, and very helpful to his friends, however it can be rather easy to get on his bad side, and when he is angry, he kind of goes from calm...to belonging in the ward. Luckily it doesn't take long for him to revert back to his normal self, but still.

After Satou tells his big lie, the pair must now create a gal game to prove he isn't a liar.  Yamazaki's  prowess in art and computers luckily lends a lot to Satou, who is terrible at everything. What a pair. Let's make a game, shall we?

I bet you wonder about that Hitomi character, huh? Too bad. Watch the anime.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pay attention please!
Now all this time,  I have been peddling something to you guys. Bragging about it, hinting about it, talking about it. Change. You who have stuck around have probably noticed little things here and there, such as adding a bit more to the age rating, changing the character bios up just a little, but none of that is really worthy of all of this talk, right? Well you would be correct. That is because my focus for change is right here, in the review. Make sure to comment with what you think about the changes!

A little note before we begin. As a reviewer, it is my goal to provide you with very detailed, thorough reviews, which is the reason for this change in the first place, however I simply don't have the time to watch the anime both fully subbed, and fully dubbed, I simply cannot. I understand that to a degree, this will skew my review results slightly. However, as in most anime, the important people are introduced in the first episode (usually) I watch both versions of episode 1, and go with whichever I prefer. You can get a pretty good sense of the voice acting that way, and since the people who matter are the ones you will hear the most, I feel like it is a good way of doing things. Anyways, on to the review.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plot: 9/10

I am a sucker for a love story, simple as that. Throughout the series, there is a strong connection between Satou and Misaki that you can just feel, and if you are like me, you will wind up rooting for them. This anime is as much a drama as it is a comedy, and I feel like the creators took a very real, very serious issue, and presented it in a way that is easy to enjoy. Throughout the anime I found myself feeling a very wide array of emotions, and I found that once the ball got rolling (episode 2 for me) I was constantly interested in finding out what would happen next. the ending was pretty good, but not quite perfect (to me) and so I can't give it a perfect 10

Music: 4/10

Listen, the music isn't exactly bad, per say, it's just so repetitive that it may make you wanna take a bat to your viewing device. The intro song comes in two flavors, one of which is just a remix of the same song (starting halfway through) and the most prominent song used is the Pururin theme song, which even our main character agrees is really irritating after a while. This song shows up as the ringtone to Yamazaki, and if I recall right, also the ringtone for Satou. I found that to be kind of confusing. There are a few unique songs throughout the series that play at random times, and I feel like those deserve some merit, but it's simply not enough.

Voices (Subbed): 6/10

I am almost always a fan of subs over dubs, that is just me, however in this instance, I felt like the voices for the subbed version were...A little plain. Sure, Magical Girl Pururin sounds better subbed, and I am not saying the subs are bad per say, I just feel like in this case, they didn't quite win out to the dub

Voices (Dubbed): 8/10

Right off the bat, we hear Satou speak, and oh my god, his voice is perfect for his character. I knew I would be watching the dub from there. In comes Misaki. Same thing, perfect, cute voice for her. In comes Yamazaki, yup, perfect fit there too. You know what doesn't fit? Any and all of the gal game girls Satou fantasizes about, all of the other crazy, non main character related things Satou fantasizes about. (I'm looking at you, chair)and a specific girl, Nanako. Listen, girls with retainers/lisps. I don't particularly have anything against you, but I can't bring myself to believe that a character who is a "beautiful girl, with an amazingly cute voice" who is going to school to be a voice actress, and is offered a leading role as such, would have such a prominent lisp. I don't know if the lisp is particularly real or fake, and I am sure that either way, a lisp isn't always a deal breaker, but for me, it just doesn't "fit"

Art: 10/10

HOLY CRAP, A 10 on day 1 of the new format!? WHAT!? Character design is freaking brilliant. Right off, we will start with Satou. God this guy is animated. He has so many facial expressions that you can pretty much pinpoint his mood even if you were watching the anime with no sound. The art is clean, and looks good even when not in HD. Misaki is freaking adorable. Yamazaki is just the perfect example of a nerd, they nailed everything, absolutely everything.

Characters: 8.5/10

I basically covered this, but let me get a little more in depth. With a combination of perfect voices and art, the main characters are visually/audibly perfect. Every single main character has depth, they have things that make them imperfect, they are believable as "real" people, they react to real situations realistically, and they all have well written back stories that don't need to be drawn out in length, but instead learned through bits and pieces of information you pick up as you watch. With a lot of the sub-characters however, I can't help but feel like less work went into them. Not all of them mind you, some are actually almost as well hashed out as the main characters, but then you have characters that just seem absolutely terrible. I hate you pururin.

"LOVE ME! pururin~"

Crazy: A lot/10

Woohoo!! Crazy time!! Let's see. talking appliances, check. Talking furniture, check. Got it? everything talks. Everything is watching. Everything is out to get you. Forever. Forever. Forever. You can run if you'd like. Run away, but you won't escape.

Overall:  8/10

I did the math and it came out to a respectable 7.9, but I decided to round it off to an 8 because I'm running the show here, damnit. I loved this anime, like, a lot. Sadly, only in a perfect world does even some of the best anime get a 10, because I want to reserve a 10 for something special, you show me an anime that gets 10's across the board in my eyes and I will absolutely promote the living hell out of it for you. That aside, besides all of the little gripes I had, I feel like this anime is one you absolutely must watch. That is, unless you don't want to know about the ones who are hacking into your brain right now.

Etiquette, Inconsistencies, CLAYMORE

A few things before we get started. I want to mention that I am borrowing a format change from Geekologie and converting it slightly for nerdy anime usage. That change is user suggestions being credited. I take no credit for the idea itself and would like to thank geekologie for providing a tinge of inspiration. You will find a shoutout at the bottom of every user suggested review, thanks!

Second, soon I will get around to making us a facebook page, just be patient my friends!

Third, I will be focusing more on the actual REVIEW of my REVIEWS, hopefully this will provide more useful insight on the anime I review going forward.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, listen to this.

Why can't I play bass like that? Or play bass at all...or any instrument.

*Ehem*

Could you imagine just sitting in your house and all of the sudden a demon explodes your door, doesn't have the decency to knock, doesn't wipe his feet, doesn't take off his shoes, and then eats the guts of everyone in your family like hes just the damn king of the world? Yeah, don't worry. He isn't getting an invite the the barbecue.

BUT I HEARD THERE WOULD BE RIBS!!!!! T___T

But at least he didn't eat you, right? Well I heard him tell his friends that it was because you didn't smell edible. Want revenge? Well you best hope you're a girl then, because if you aren't you are pretty much SOL.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Claymore

Episodes: 26

Age Rating: Teen 17+

Tags: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen*, Supernatural

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In a dark, cruel world full of demons known as yoma, there is no hope. There is no salvation. They hide among your people, and when the time is right, they attack. You cannot stop them with any human force. You wait, and hope your town, or at the very least, your family isn't targeted. But what about when they are? What can you do? Even if you survive an attack on your family, what is left for you? You fight fire with fire. You call the Claymore.

"Who are the Claymore?" you ask? Well there are three ways to explain.

Humans: "Who are the Claymore? Silver eyed witches. Monsters that come to our city to kill yoma. All of them have Silver eyes that turn gold when they battle yoma. I hear that's them releasing their demon powers. If you ask me, they are just showing their true nature. If we get lucky the monsters will all kill each other before they turn and kill us instead. "*slams door*

Claymore: "We are an organization whose only purpose is to slay yoma. We are half yoma, half human. We all had our own reasons for becoming Claymore, but we all did so with a purpose.  Our minds ultimately decided what sort of Claymore we became, either defensive or offensive. We are not monsters... We still have human hearts. Humans may see as us cold and cruel, but we really just want to protect them."

Me:  Beautiful blonde women with silver eyes that turn gold when they release their power. They have crazy, awesome big ol' claymore swords, and they have demon superpowers, and they are awesome. Claymore also have rules they have to abide by, which can be pretty rough with an existence like theirs.

Here, Allow me to introduce my favorite.

I am told these are not bedroom eyes.
Clare (protagonist)

Interests/Skills: Raki, Vengence

Misc: Underdog (I will not provide you with Clare's Rank.)

Clare is an average Claymore. She is closed off to the world, and just does her job, not concerning herself with trivial things like her own happiness. Unlike many other Claymore however, she takes extra steps to protect lives, and even shows human compassion at times. As I mentioned she is a bit of an underdog, and as a character I find this to be amazing. You can't just obliterate all of your problems away. Clare shows substantial growth from all angles through the anime, rather than starting as a fully developed character from the start. As a result you end up with one of the most human characters you will ever see. Clare is not without her flaws however, and often ends up letting her emotions guide her decisions. Her friends might describe her as "reckless" and "an idiot". The spark that ignites her growth as a person? Raki.

So that's pretty cool, but who the hell is Raki?

Pictured: Human male.
Raki

Interests/Skills: Clare. He is Brave, sharp, and passionate. He is a good cook.

Misc: Still a human male

Raki is a human male who right off the bat takes an interest in Clare when she comes to his town and saves the day. I can't stress enough that human males seriously got shafted in this anime. Claymore must be female, so, sorry dude. Technically he could become a yoma, but even if he DID do that, he would be 1000x weaker than a Claymore. Well, nonetheless, Raki is all about getting strong to protect Clare. He is more than willing to spit in the face of a yoma rather than beg for his life, and I find that rather admirable. Still though, human male.

I'm not writing about 46 more claymore, NOT including deserters and predecessors. Go watch the anime and discover em' yourself. Mr/Ms/Mrs lazy. (Don't kill me Ms/Mrs lazy)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, I want to say there are a few very minor inconsistencies in this anime, as well as a few things mentioned that simply don't matter. Normally this would affect my score, however, this anime is so good that it will have no impact. If you want to know what those things are, as always contact information will  be located at the bottom of the review. Feel free to ask.

Alright, now onto the anime; If you are looking for a laugh or two, you will not find a single one here. This anime takes the plot very seriously, and gets very deep, very often. People die, not everyone is saved, and that's just how it is. There is blood, (FUN FACT: YOMA BLOOD IS PURPLE) and there is a lot of it. There are a few cases of mild nudity as well, nothing to really concern yourself with, I assure you.

For those of you who are analytical, just sit back and enjoy the intense storyline as it plays out, don't try to plan ahead, figure out why things are how they are, and don't be like me, seeking out every little inconsistency. The fact of the matter is, they DON'T matter. Claymore may be the best, or at least pretty damn close to best anime I have ever seen.

10/10

Seeing things through with School Days

Everyone has done things in their life that they might have found... painful. Maybe it was painful because it was boring, or maybe it was just really stupid, or maybe it was just so aggravating that it it felt like the fibers of your mind were just tearing apart and perhaps for a brief moment, you WISHED your head would just explode to end the torture. BUT- but then your mind CRIED out, saying "No! We have to stick this through, you never know! MAYBE, just MAYBE it will be worthwhile."

We just want loooove.

Our next anime is kinda like that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
School Days

Episodes: 12 and 2 OVAS

I wanna take a second to mention that the ovas are REALLY weird and have nothing to do with the story, but if you want to watch them, you might as well, they are...different.

Age Rating: Teen 17+ (You aren't going to understand why for a LONG time)

Tags: Drama, Romance, Harem
------------------------------------------------------------------
In School Days we follow along with a boy who is very bad at people. He falls in love with a girl, and every day he stares at her on the train. Upon overhearing a rumor from classmates, he snaps a picture of her on his phone and makes it his cellphone wallpaper because keeping it hidden from your crush for a certain period of time means you will end up together. Unfortunately for him, someone does see it, and instead of banking everything on superstition, she does everything she can to convince him to stop being an awkward moron, and to assist him in getting the girl. From there...we prepare for a long ride as the plot train derails into madness.

I bet you have so many questions. All things in good time, remember?

This time I highly recommend sticking around for the characters, rather than skipping straight to the review, however if you do read about the characters, just know that these particular character reviews may contain mild spoilers.

Just in it for the review? [not recommended for this one] Click Here!

Don't play dumb, you know what you did.
Itou Makoto

Interests/Skills: Well, he's into girls. Like, really into them. He is really good at pissing me off.

Misc: Like, a lot.

Makoto.. perverted just doesn't work for him. Never before have I absolutely hated a main character, or even a supporting character (except Peggy Hill from king of the hill -_-) quite this much. He is the PROTAGONIST and you want to root for him, but then you are like, you may very well be the dumbest, most frustrating person I have ever seen. He also often pushes for more physical contact than is often appropriate.

Ehehe...
Makoto is a good guy at the heart of things, he is just REALLY driven by lust. He doesn't want anyone to get hurt, but you know... Actually, no. Nope. I am not gonna sugarcoat this. He is a passive asshole. He is a beast, and it is feeding time.

The prey?

She's so in love.
Katsura Kotonoha

Interests/Skills: Very intellectual

Misc: The girl on the train. Very reclusive and shy, loves horror movies, prone to going full on yandere*

Kotonoha is initially introduced to be a very shy girl, and  much like the wonderful Yuuno from "MM!" she has androphobia*. This is in contrast to Makoto above who, IF YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION, you would know is all about not giving a girl personal space. She nonetheless develops a very close bond to Makoto and is passionately loyal to him, no matter how terrible of a person he is.

But would a beast be satisfied with just one meal?

She even LOOKS like a good friend.
Saionji Sekai

Interests/Skills: She is a semi-decent matchmaker, and is good at making friends.

Misc: The girl who saw Makoto's phone.

Every night needs a day, and here we have the energetic Sekai. Sekai often puts others before herself, and as a result, often finds herself getting hurt for the sake of others. She is a very close friend of Makoto, and is a big part of the reason he was able to break out of his reclusive shell. Despite his flaws, Makoto and Sekei become very fast friends as she helps him get, and keep the girl. Wanting him to be the best he can be for Kotonoha, she decides to teach him everything she can about how to treat a woman.

But what happens when he turns his gaze her way?

If I wrote about everyone in this school, Makoto might go on a feeding frenzy, so watch the anime and discover them for yourself!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been hinting at this here and there throughout this review, but this anime is ALL about the ending. Even if you hate the anime, watch it through, just to get there. You need to stick this out, because as far as endings go, this one is just so one of a kind that you DO NOT wanna miss it. This anime was work for me. I have talked in the past about anime I could not put down (Attack on Titan) but this is one that I HAD to watch in increments to keep my emotions in check.

There were so many times that an episode ended on a cliffhanger, and I was like... Nope, can't handle that right now, GFY till next week. Then came the ending. I arrived at it, and I didn't touch it for something like... Two weeks? Then I did. I stared at the "finished episode screen" for something like a full minute and I did nothing, I said nothing, just stared wide eyed.

After a long while, I sat back and I thought to myself... "Worth it."

And that ladies and gentlemen, is School Days.

6/10

The games this is based off of? Just don't. Let's just say if this anime is a thunderstorm in a bottle, the games are 2012.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1.  A Japanese term for a person who is initially very kind, loving, caring, and gentle to someone (or at least innocent) they really, truly like and care about a lot before their purely intense romantic, love, admiration and devotion becomes mentally destructive in nature, often through over protectiveness, violence or brutality. (courtesy of the school days wiki, because I couldn't be bothered to explain it myself)

2. Afraid of men.

Authors Note: This review is pretty lacking in images because most of them would spoil the ending. I also know this is a short post, but again, I had to tread egg shells to not reveal the ending of this anime, just...go watch it. I will make it up to you, I promise.

The Ocean, lemons, and Squid Girl Degeso

Why hello fans! It feels like it has been a little while since my last  review, but that is only because I have been spending my time updating the site. I hope you enjoy the changes! Anyways, let's get on with it, shall we?

Ahhh..summer. The time where everyone heads off to the beach. Moonlit walks along the shore line, swimming, surfing... and everyone loves it. As for me? I often wonder what sort of things lurk down in that water. I mean, what if..

Nooooope

Yeah. I think I will stick to the shore where it's safe. Yup, I hear there is a cozy little beach house restaurant with really nice...

Oh what the hell.....
..squid...

(Invade!) Squid Girl - Shinryaku! Ika Musume

 Episodes: 24 (2 Seasons)

Age Rating: Everyone (Season 2 is rated 13+ for some reason)

 Tags: Comedy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The world is in danger from an unexpected threat. Deep below the surface of the sea lurks a monster. Humans have polluted her world and now her entire being is consumed by one thing; revenge.

Revenge...
Revenge.....!

Revenge!!!!!!

<3 Shrimp ~ Degeso <3

TRICKERY!!! ~ Degeso
Our great and powerful invader sets her sights on the Lemon, a quaint little restaurant on the beach, easy target. An evil monster bug from the filthy human world attacks her, and completely in self defense she attempts to swat it. She accidentally breaks a hole in the wall of the restaurant, inciting the wrath of the owners, who are apparently much stronger than they appear. They take her hostage, demanding she work to pay for the damage. This would set back most invaders, but the invader from the sea isn't like everyone else. She makes The Lemon her home base, from which she will dominate the human world, thus ending the pollution from the human menace once and for all.

Because who's the real monster here?

Just in it for the review degeso? Click Here!

Who is our little revenge seeker you ask?

The face of evil
Squid Girl - (Squiddy, Ika Musume)

Interests/Skills: Loves shrimp, has control over her hairlike tentacles which possess superhuman strength and speed (which makes her an amazing waitress), able to
breathe underwater, can spray squid ink for defense and delicious noodle dishes, can emit light, can move the flaps on her hat, can change her weight at will.(holy crap it's like shes a squid!!!) She can also draw very well, and is able to absorb knowledge with exceptional speed and comprehension.

invader of HEARTS
Misc: Wears a hat that cannot come off. If for any reason it does, she will die. speaks in a squid-like dialect. She often ends sentences with "degeso" as a replacement word for "desu"

(You squidding me?)

Squid Girl is dangerous, but not in the way you might think. (What? I lead you on? You're crazy.) Her goal is to take over earth, and she is all for making it happen. At the same time she doesn't want anyone to get hurt and feels terrible when she does something to harm anyone. She is sweet, but still very confident in her ability to invade. People quickly fall for her adorable personality, even her captors. At the heart of things she is a little girl, and her childish nature often conflicts with her adult goals. She is very curious, and extremely sensitive. Her pride is often an issue as well, but still, something about her just makes you wanna take her side. Destroy all humans!

The two responsible for enslaving Squid Girl are the Aizawa sisters:

Suspect # 1
Aizawa Eiko

Interests/Skills: Very athletic, loves video games

Misc: She is both patient, and easily irritated. She is a decent teacher. She is the manager of The Lemon.

Eiko on the outside is quick to anger and mild violence, especially towards Squid Girl, but over time grows to care for her quite a bit, and most often plays the role of "big sister" to her. She quite frequently takes the time to teach Squid Girl various things about the brand new world around her. Patient indeed.

What a gentle soul. She must be innocent.
Aizawa Chizuru

Interests/Skills: Cooking, martial arts

Misc: Excels at being both an angel and the spawn of satan at the same time. She is quite concerned about her weight. She also has very poor eyesight (which is why she is always squinting)

Chizuru is the oldest of the Aizawa family. She is the main owner of The Lemon and takes a lot of pride in it. Most of the time she is calm and cheerful, and almost always puts up with Squid Girl's antics, however, when Squid Girl (or anyone else for that matter) gets a little too out of hand Chizuru opens her eyes and a demonic sort of aura radiates around her. This presence tends to intimidate everyone into submission. When attacked, her martial arts skills are unparalleled. She is also known to be quite competitive.

Son of a...

Believe it or not though, these two are not Squid Girl's real nemesis. Oh no no no... that would be....

Aww.. Shes cute!  Wait..you wont trick me this time.....
Nagatsuki Sanae

Interests/Skills: She is in love with Squid Girl, to the point of obsession. Loves cosplay and photography, and often subjects Squid Girl to both, taking pictures of her in various outfits.

Misc: Squid Girl in turn "hates" her.

Sanae is actually a very sweet, passionate, and loving girl. She is also very dedicated to her friends; her closest friend being Eiko. Her only crime is being hopelessly in love with Squid Girl, having fallen for her at first sight due to how cute she was. Normally this love wouldn't be a huge issue, as love is pretty inconsequential to Squid Girl, but she goes about in a really creepy way. As a result, she often times she gets tentacle slapped or has ink sprayed in her face. She actually finds this enjoyable, often times getting the pervert trademark of japan (bloody nose) but I suspect this is just because she is happy with ANY attention from Squid Girl that she can get. She is very protective of her in spite of the cold treatment she receives, and hopes to one day earn her love. Oh Sanae. I would just be happy you haven't been arrested yet.

Err....Maybe someone should uh...

I KNEW IT!!!!

The Ocean and beach are both very large, as such I couldn't talk about everyone. I guess that means you have to discover some of them for yourself!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squid Girl is an anime that I had a little trouble with at first. It was a bit childish and I guess as such I judged it a little too harshly. From beginning to end I started to learn that maybe childish isn't always a bad thing, and that little squid's quirky personality quickly grew on me. This anime is very cute, and if you are looking for something more laden with blood and action you won't find it here. That being said, if you are looking for a good laugh without too much insanity (LOOKING AT YOU DOKURO) then go ahead give Squid Girl a shot.

7 out of 10

In the future, the world is taken over by a sick, creepy, unpleasant sort of guy. A creeper pedophile who creates a machine that prevents anyone who is female from aging beyond age 12. An angel is sent back in time to prevent such a depraved future from ever occurring. Also, other stuff.

Just in it for the review? Click Here!

Not Fake.

Adorable.

...?
Right... On to characters...

Is he okay..?
Kusakabe Sakura

Skills/Hobbies:  One can assume he must be pretty smart if he invented an anti-aging machine.

Misc: Oddly enough, not actually much of a pervert (kind of)... Just very...Very...VERY unlucky...

Remember that creeper I was talking about? Guess what? He is......OUR PROTAGONIST!!!!!! YAY! Sakura is just a kid, he is currently 13, and of course likes girls his age. he has no clue that he grows up to be a pedophile, because stuff? ......Also, even as a kid, everyone hates him.

Oh...Right....
R.I.P:

Sakura was a good boy. Unfortunately he was doomed by a future he couldn't control. Sure, maybe he was a little different. Sure, he got in trouble a lot, but most of the time, the trouble he got into wasn't even his fault. He was in love with his classmate, like most boys his age. Sadly his life was ended in its prime by a terrible, cruel, evil being.

Who, me?

Mitsukai Dokuro -  (Dokuro Chan)

Hobbies/Skills: Murder

Misc: That club is called "Excaliborg".

Dokuro is an angel (tenshi) sent from the future to prevent Sakura from turning the world into Peter (Ja)pan. She decides that she wants to save Sakura rather than murder him, and that goes about as well as you might expect. She is actually pretty sweet and charming and I am not just saying that so that she doesn't come after me.

Shouldn't have told anyone.

As always there are plenty more characters to discover, so please be sure to watch this amazing anime!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there! It's Me, Mitsukai Dokuro~ Your wonderful host has asked suuuper nice if I would take over the show!
